Innovative drive concept for maximum quality and high output volumes

The development of the “DCS 2 1.5” flat contact is proof that SCHROEDER + BAUER is continuously able to meet new requirements. The unique drive concept of the tool enables precise results and high output volumes.

The 2-part standard flat contact consisting of housing and spring finds application with OEMs, especially in the automotive industry.

The innovative drive concept impresses with a servo-tandem feed at the start of the tool which feeds the material for the spring and its housing. The delivery of the finished spring to the housing at the end of the tool is also made using a servo feed. A fourth servo drive actuates the transfer mechanics developed by SCHROEDER + BAUER to assemble the spring to the housing.

The result is a low stroke height which enables a higher production speed and the possibility to make fine adjustments in the process.

The general design and sequence of the tool is as follows:

There are 5 modules for the housing, 5 modules for the spring, and 1 assembly module with a total tool length of 1080 mm.
The rear row of modules manages the production of the spring which then leaves the tool and is fed back into the tool by means of a servo feed.
The assembly module assembles the spring in the housing. The production of parts at 700 strokes per minute enables an output volume of 1400 parts/min.. An increase in the stroke rate to 900 strokes per minute is planned.

Regarding double sheet control, the tool does without the existing technology of proximity switches or eddy current sensors and instead uses structure-borne noise sensors for early detection of possible incorrect stamping.
